As a Website Designer/local business owner here in Orlando, I make serious attempts to keep up with local news and events; as much as three children, my client load, and classes allow me to do. This particular story was something I wanted to touch upon here, as this is really the only media a local small business owner has out there these days, it seems.

For those that might not know, Dawn Brancheau was a trainer here at Sea World for the killer whales. A few days ago, she was feeding one of the whales, and the ponytail that she had been growing, apparently for “Locks of Love”, got into the whale’s mouth somehow, either by accident, or just the whale presumably thinking it was food. Within two seconds, the whale pulled Dawn into the pool, eventually drowning her.

I just wanted to take this opportunity, in my small space here in cyberspace, to send my heart out to Dawn’s friends and family, as I understand she is laid to rest today in Illinois. She was a key part, as are so many attraction workers here in Orlando, to our tourism, the park, and I’m sure in many people’s direct lives, as well.
